Since we didn't have class today because of the power outage, we decided we would keep individually working on our wiki's. We are all supposed to be communicating and adding to our wiki's this week. We don't have a lot of class time left so my group really needs to make sure they are continously adding to our wiki.
I read on gooodhousekeeping.com a list of new innovative products in 2011. One of the products was called, Evolution Robotics Mint Floor Cleaner. It is a box shaped electronic that cleans dry and wet floors. It uses a reusable microfiber cloth to wipe up the floor. I've seen these floor cleaner robots, but typically they could only do carpet or hard floor, not both. It also used a vacuum style to clean up messes, where as this new product uses a much easier to work with cloth. It uses GPS technology to map out the room, so it knows where it has gone and still needs to go to clean. This innovative product costs a whopping $249!
My feelings about our groups progression is that I am a little worried. I know it will hopefully fall into place, but I am still a little hesitant. We still need to come up with a prototype or picture of our product, as well as add more to our wiki and just figure out the finishing touches. I know we will pull it together in the end, I would just like to see a little more effort in some group members.

What has had an impact on me in class is listening to my other group members creative ideas and stemming off of their ideas. One has an idea, and we work off of that to make it even better.
My experiences are changing me into a more creative person by I'm not only creative in class, but outside of class as well. I try to be creative at work also. I actually had a coworker compliment me on my creativity. They told me, "Way to think outside of the BOEX." Which was funny.
I found an article on popsci.com about a bicycle that is riderless. It looks like a pole with two wheels and the person kind of stands over it, only giving the bike a little bit of guidance. The bike is lower in front and higher in the back, which keeps the bike upright. It said that this discovery will open up new possibilities for bicycle design. Although it looks kind of neat, I don't really see the point. The point of a bike is to sit on it and be able to peddle, but if the bike is riderless, that kind of defeats the point of a bike.
I'm very happy with my teams progress, things are finally coming together. Although I do wish we would have gotten a little farther today. I feel like the more we accomplish in one day, the less we have to do right before our presentation is due. But really it's more of what we have to do outside of class, like adding to our wiki.

Experiences in class that have had an impact on me were today when all the groups shared how far they were on their product. It helped to know that we weren't the only groups struggling to come up with a product. I felt like we were really far behind, but when I heard the groups talk I realized we were doing okay.
Today I shared my ideas about potential verge products to the group. I thought my ideas weren't all that good but they were really supportive. Now I know that I can share my ideas and not be torn down by people. They all really liked my ideas.
I read about in China how they are coming up with UV protection and water repellant for clothing. They would use zinc oxide and alter cotton fabrics. There would be a silica shell clothing that would protect clothing from UV rays. Maybe if people use this it could help not let the color of clothes fad. For someone that hikes or bikes a lot, it could be very beneficial. It would protect them from powerful rayes, as well as keep the color in their clothing.
Today we made a lot more progress then the past few weeks. We narrowed down our ideas and picked one that I think could do really well. We added a lot of things to our wiki page which is good. We are really coming along. I'm happy with all the progress my group has made.

I missed class last week due to being sick. So I haven't been impacted by much.
My experiences are making me into a more creative person by I'm becoming more comfortable sharing my ideas. Before I thought they were dumb, but I'm learning to not care as much.
I read on InfoWorld.com that a company has come up with an app that when you take a picture with your camera of real life objects, they magically come to life. It's kind of like how in the Harry Potter movies, pictures move in the picture frames and in the newspaper. The app though will only recognize about a half a million objects.

Things that have had an impact on me this past week were the presentations. We were able to see how other groups were doing and how they were being creative.
Even when I'm not in Workplace Innovation I still try and be innovative. When I'm in other classes I am constantly thinking of ways to be creative. I listen to the people around me in hopes that it will generate ideas, like what product we should verge.
I read on CNN that a guy is trying to find ways to get youth to be more excited about going to the library. He is working on a mobile game, which would run through Smart Phones, that would create a scavenger hunt in the library. It would be called, "Find the Future." Find the Future would combine a real life scavenger hunt with digital challenges. This would hopefully teach the younger generation about history.
Last class we were missing two people so we didn't get much accomplished. We spent most of the class trying to come up with ideas for a verge product. Although we didn't come up with anything, the next day I thought of ideas and wrote them down. So in our next class I will have the group look over the ideas and see if they are interested in any of them.
